The Federal Communication Commission (FCC) licenses Amateur Radio operators in the United States and it's possessions. The FCC currently issues three classes of Amateur license: Technician; General; Extra. The basic license class, Technician, requires 26 or more correct answers to a test consisting of 35 questions, randomly drawn from a pool of 350+ questions. . | |

Many persons successfully self-study for Technician license exam. The recommended study manual is The ARRL Ham Radio License Manual, available from the American Amateur Radio League (ARRL) for $29.95 plus shipping. Mentors, called "Elmers" in hamspeak, are available to assist you in your studies. | |
